However, the available research clearly shows improvements in quality of life for older adults involved in a structured exercise programme.

Facts:

  • 33% of the UK population is over the age of fifty
  • 21% of the UK population is over the age of sixty
  • The number is growing year on year
  • The risk of CHD increases with age
  • 1 in 2 women over the age of fifty will experience osteoporotic damage in their lifetime

As the number of younger adults declines and the older market increases, our instructors need to be pro-active in the development of training regimes that address some of the issues facing this group.
