Over 15 million people in the UK have an impairment that has a significant effect on their ability to do day to day activities. The focus of the Disability Discrimination Act was to provide equity of service throughout industry and open access to all.
However, access does not just reflect the physical access to your facilities. Staff awareness of the challenges facing people with disabilities is vital if real access is to be achieved.
Staff training can alleviate the difficulties facing those with visual or auditory impairments, learning difficulties, progressively degenerative diseases and spinal cord injuries.

This awareness day highlights some of those challenges and helps develop strategies to open access to all members of the public irrespective of ability.
If your first thought of disability is “wheelchair” - you and your staff need this training! |
